Senator Nancy Larraine Hoffmann today awarded $242,000 to 21 Central New York Fire Departments for the purchase of Thermal Imaging Cameras.
"These cameras are proven lifesaving tools for the fire service making it possible for firefighters to rescue people faster, cut through the smoke to fight the fire at its source, and then make sure the fire won't rekindle. It is imperative that this technology be made available to our fire departments as quickly as possible," said Senator Hoffmann (R, Syracuse) during today's grant presentation and demonstration at the Syracuse Fire Department Training Center.
