Senator Hoffmann, along with Governor Pataki, U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, Congressman James Walsh and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver attended the ground breaking for the hotel at Destiny USA that will be located at the current site of the Carousel Center.

When completed, Destiny USA will be the largest mall in the world.


Senator Hoffmann, Governor George Pataki and Pyramid Company President Bob Congel break ground on The Destiny USA hotel with the help of Congel's grandchildren. At the far left is County Executive Nick Pirro.

Governor George Pataki explained the immense impact Destiny USA will have on Central New York and on the nation. Not only will Destiny USA be the largest shopping mall in American but plans are to make it the largest environmentally friendly project ever built.

Senator Hoffmann praised Bob Congel and Governor Pataki for their vision and likened the project to the Erie Canal. She said a lot of people didn't believe in that project either, calling it "Clinton's Ditch," but it changed New York forever and so will Destiny USA.
