Senator Hoffmann honored Dr. Charles E. Read at a party Saturday afternoon in celebration of his retirement as Superintendent of the Cazenovia Central School System, following a distinguished career of thirty-three years.
The event was held by the School Board at the historic Rippleton Schoolhouse on the grounds of the Lorenzo Mansion State Park in Cazenovia.
Senator Hoffmann presented Dr. Read with a Senate Resolution honoring his accomplishments, and spoke warmly about his skill in guiding the District.

Sen. Hoffmann reminisced on some of the projects she and Dr. Read have undertaken in supporting the Cazenovia Central School District.
In the background is the Rippleton School House, one of the early one-room schoolhouses originally located about a half-mile south of the State Park. Sen. Hoffmann provided a grant to move the schoolhouse to its present location, and it has become an historic attraction.
Cazenovia's Burton Street School children visit one day each spring and have classes while sitting at the old desks in the restored building. |

"Chuck" Read, as he is known to his colleagues, has been with the Cazenovia Central School District for over twenty years, and is well-known and liked by all. |

Dr. Read thanked Sen. Hoffmann and his other well-wishers, and reminisced about his tenure.
He thanked the Cazenovia community for its support during times when funds were tight and programs were cut, and was pleased to say that as soon as funds were available, programs were restored and improved. |
