Senator Hoffmann and New York State Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno (R-Rensselaer) visited Morrisville State College's Equine Breeding and Training Center, a nationally recognized facility leading to jobs in the growing equine industry.
Senator Hoffmann and Senator Bruno were greeted by Morrisville State College President, Ray Cross; Morrisville State College Council Chairman, Arnold Fisher; 250 students of Morrisville's equine program; along with Morrisville Mayor Henry Douglas and Hamilton Mayor Charlie Getchonis; Madison County Board of Supervisors Chairman Rocco Diveronica and Town of Eaton Supervisor Dave Puddington.
Morrisville State College has a nationally recognized equine program. With a bachelor degree and two associate degrees offered, diversity of the program offerings is one of its major strengths. Students are able to blend theoretical learning with practical application in many areas. Enrollment has steadily increased over the past four years, to a total of 240 students in the 2003-04 academic year.
"...I want to tell you something -- no matter how aggravating it is to be out in the barn, it's better than almost anything else out there," said Senator Bruno. Bruno, a horseman and supporter of the horse community, starts most of his mornings out in the barn, tending his horses.
