SENATOR HOFFMANN FINDS FUNDS TO SAVE SPORTS PROGRAMS AT STOCKBRIDGE VALLEY CENTRAL SCHOOL

Athletes at Stockbridge Valley Central School can go ahead and start lacing up their sneakers. Their spring programs are back on the line-up thanks to a $50,000 grant from Senator Nancy Larraine Hoffmann that covered a shortfall created when the Oneida Indian Nation decided not to award their $120,000 Silver Covenant Grant, funds the school had already incorporated into their 2003-2004 budget.

Stockbridge Valley Central School District Board of Education President Michael Oot recognized that Senator Hoffmann has had a long and enduring relationship with the school and has supplied them with funds before.

"This is not the first time that Senator Hoffmann has come to the aid of the school. Allocating these funds to the district will enable us to fully restore the programs for the current year and give a much needed morale boost to the students and taxpayers in the community," said Oot.

Previously, Senator Hoffman supplied the school with a $30,000 grant to fund the purchase of a new four-wheel drive tractor. Senator Hoffmann presented the check to former Stockbridge Valley Central School Superintendent Charles Stratton at the 2000 community fair. Afterwards, Senator Hoffmann led the antique tractor parade.

"The Stockbridge community is a very special one and has demonstrated many times its ability to meet challenges and show support for its citizens. In every situation there is a lesson and the students of Stockbridge are seeing the strength of a tight-knit, rural community pulling together to overcome adversity." said Senator Hoffmann.
