Events & Activities - Chadwick Residence Thanksgiving Celebration - November 25, 2003

The residents and staff at Chadwick Residence have a lot to be thankful for and they acknowledged those blessings at an early Thanksgiving Dinner.

19 months ago Chadwick Residence was running out of money and preparing to close. Today, the residential program that helps women rebuild their lives after struggling with drug or alcohol abuse, domestic violence or life on the streets, is not only still in operation but growing.

Senator Hoffmann was invited to the Thanksgiving celebration because it was a $50,000 grant she arranged that gave Chadwick Residence a reprieve. Since then, Chadwick's staff and volunteers have stepped up fund raising efforts and secured more State and Federal funding.

The Residence houses up to 17 women and 12 children with a budget of $289,000.

Executive Director Judith Arthur-Brothers and Senator Hoffmann talked with former Chadwick Resident Angel Coleman and her two children, Rakees who is three (l) and Cebel who is 5 years old (r).
