Events & Activities - 4th Annual Syracuse Nationals - July 18, 2003

Welcome to the Syracuse Nationals..."The Largest Car Happening on the Right Coast".

The Syracuse Nationals, July 18-20, 2003, is a truly unique community-wide event. The one-of-a-kind street rods, classic cars and pick up trucks park at the Empire Expo Center where thousands of fans can examine the craftsmanship up close. The cars cruise everywhere in the Central New York area delighting everyone who sees them.

One of the highlights of the weekend is the parade of vehicles through downtown Syracuse.

The parade stops at Columbus Circle to pick up elected officials including the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles, Ray Martinez (2nd from l), Senator Hoffmann, Senator John DeFrancisco and Syracuse Nationals Public Relations Director Robert McLean showing off the Syracuse Nationals license plates.

Senator Hoffmann was lucky enough to ride in a classic 1959 Cadillac convertible. The parade leaves Columbus Circle and ends up at the State Fairgrounds where Senator Hoffmann had the chance to take many of the following pictures.

Senator Hoffmann and Commissioner Martinez toured the Syracuse Nationals looking over their favorite cars. This 1955 Chevy is a favorite of Senator Hoffmann's because her first car was a 1955 Chevy, although it didn't have quite the same paint job.

The Pink Cadillac belongs to Bill and Kay Lambrigger of Roscoe, NY. They tow "Sam and Ella's" Diner behind it.

Commissioner Martinez finds even a school bus has possibilities when expert customizers go to work.

Commissioner Martinez shows Senator Hoffmann the many services his department has to offer people attending the Nationals.

One service the DMV offered during the show was customized license plates. People could have all the forms filed so the new plates could be on the way as the customer was heading home.
