Events & Activities - Hoffmann Helps Heritage Farm Expansion - July 4, 2003

Heritage Farm offers very special help for individuals from Madison County with developmental disabilities. Senator Hoffmann has been involved with the growth of Heritage Farm since the beginning and was ready to help jumpstart the fundraising campaign to expand their facilities. On Independence Day, Senator Hoffmann presented Heritage Farm with a grant of $50,000 for the Homestead Fund Drive. The new facility will expand their capacity to serve individuals with a variety of neurological disorders. The Homestead Drive is now up to $110,000 of their $500,000 goal. Heritage Farm, on Route 46 just north of Hamilton, is building a second site for Day Habilitation to provide programs for the growing number of young adults. Senator Hoffmann presented a ceremonial check in front of the site being cleared for the new facility. Cindy Hengst, President of the Heritage Farm Board of Directors, greeted Senator Hoffmann. In between them is Cindy's daughter, Stephanie and Assistant Director at the farm, Doug Bush, is to the right. Senator Hoffmann and Cindy Hengst are in front of the present Heritage Farm Residence. Some steps and walkways for the former farmhouse are being rebuilt this summer. Cindy Hengst, Executive Director Diane Mitchell, Stephanie Martineau, Jeff Acee, Architect Carl Sterns, and Assistant Farm Director Doug Bush go over the blueprints for the new building with Senator Hoffmann. A very happy Aeryn is showing off an autographed picture from country singer, Andy Griggs. Senator Hoffmann obtained it for her the week before at a concert in Syracuse (see BJam Concert event).
