Events & Activities - Apulia Fire Company Installation Dinner - March 29, 2003

 

 

Senator Nancy Larraine Hoffmann administered the oath of office Saturday night to the officers of the Apulia Fire Company and presented the department with a grant of $20,000 to pay for an air compressor system which will be shared with ten other fire departments in three counties, Onondaga, Madison, and Cortland.

Kirby Bartholomew catered dinner in the new addition of the Apulia Firehouse. A grant from Senator Hoffmann helped build the addition in 1993.

Senator Hoffmann presented Chief Mike Rankin (r) of the Apulia Fire Company a ceremonial check for $20,000 for an air compressor unit to be housed at the firehouse. Chief Ron Wheatley (l) of the Fabius Fire Department, Apulia’s sister department, and Chief Rankin explained that this air compressor helps them quickly refill the self-contained breathing apparatus, as well as, the mobile fill stations so everyone is back in service much sooner after an alarm. "Quick refill capability can save lives," said Senator Hoffmann.

After the check presentation, President Jeanne Brown and Past Treasurer Thomas Herlihy, Jr. presented Senator Hoffmann with an Apulia Fire Company jacket to thank her for her many contributions. She is also an Honorary member of the Apulia Fire Company.
